7 Love Letters To Learning From The World’s Sharpest Minds
When was the last time you gave your local library a little love? See more here.

I read the Bradbury quote and thought “Me too,” except I didn’t read all the books, and I still probably haven’t written a thousand stories.
Check out the link. It made me proud to be human, and proud to be quoted.

Are our children being pushed into prison?

More hard truth about “post-racists” America.

I have some problems with these statistics and how they’re presented (particularly the foster care stats that go from the systemic problem to California’s problem), but that doesn’t mean they’re not hitting on something important.  Fun fact from my state:

Increasing the graduation rate in Oregon by 10 percentage points would prevent approximately 17 murders and 1,300 aggravated assaults in Oregon each year.

An installation of 857 empty school desks, representing the number of students nationwide who are dropping out every hour of every school day, is on display at the National Mall on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 in Washington, DC. The installation was presented by not-for-profit organization College Board to call upon presidential candidates who are running for the White House to make education a more prominent issue in the 2012 campaigns and put the nation’s schools back on track.
