I always imagined it being the Smashing Pumpkins version. Mostly because it’s my favorite version in all the land.

We’re having my step-dad’s “Awake Wake” at the ocean this weekend, and it is beautiful.

I love this tweet because it is so true and universal. Perhaps we turn to dance music during times of confusion and upheaval. Perhaps we turn to dance music because a truly great dance song compacts euphoria in a only a few minutes. When necessary, we can turn back to what we heard before to relive the way it made us feel.
My friend turned 25 in January and we celebrated her birthday on the basement dance floor of a local bar and restaurant. I arrived to the space in a strange mood. The weather was warmer than average. It was January, but I took a long walk from my apartment, thinking about the day and the way I cried out of exhaustion and through exhaustion.
But then there was Azari & III and Robin S and Daft Punk and Nightcrawlers and Stardust and what was I thinking about before? What was upsetting me all day? What did I feel back then? I couldn’t say. I didn’t care.
Things that happen when I couch surf at my mom’s: I get her addicted to RuPaul’s Drag Race.
I’m not sure how I feel yet about introducing my little sister to Perks of Being a Wallflower because of her love of Emma Watson. I guess it’s as good of a gateway drug as any.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
I finally read this while living in Tanzania and…totally don’t get why people love it so much. The whole time I was thinking, “Go your own way, girl. Rochester is a creeper.”
